The Local Authorities Special Provisions Bill and the Local Authorities Election Amendment Bill were passed in parliament yesterday.

The new bills will completely abolish the current preferential system and introduce a mixed system.

With that the electorate method will take 70%, ratio method will take 30% to select representatives.
