Survey Department is to release a new road map of the country by the end of December.

The road map is to include latest changes of the road network including the Southern Expressway and the new roads built in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

Senior Deputy Surveyor General P.M.P. Udayakantha said that the Department has decided to issue revised versions of road maps in every 6 months' period, considering the rapidly changing road network of the country.

The currently used official road map was issued by the Department in 2010.

A digital version of the road map designed for navigation applications of mobile phones and other devices will also be released.
