The Government has allocated Rs. 212.3 million to develop 460 underdeveloped Schools, Education Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya Jayaratne said.
He was addressing a gathering of Schools Principals from the National Schools in the Kegalle district and Educational officials at a meeting convened to discuss further development in the above institutions, at the premises of Ruwanwella National School.
The above include 401 Schools chosen to be upgraded under the ‘Mahindodaya’ programme which aims to develop 1000 secondary School. These schools will receive a sum of Rs.200.5 million in total.
In addition Rs.11.8 million will be distributed among 59 identified Schools which have not received and funds within this year.
The monies will be utilized to upgrade infrastructure within the above Schools, Jayaratne said.
