President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday declared open the newly built Preliminary Care Unit at the Tangalle Hospital.
The Preliminary Care Unit at the Tangalle Hospital was constructed at a cost of 180 million rupees under the Mahinda Chintana "Suwa Sevana" program.
Korea Foundation for International Health Care (KOFIH) provided the funds to establish Preliminary Care Units in several hospitals of Sri Lanka.
The PCU consists of an Emergency Facility Ward consisting 15 beds, Minor Operating Theatres, Septic Theatre And ancillary facilities such as, X-ray rooms etc. according to the construction company Architects and Engineering Design Consultancy.
First lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Ministers Maithripala Sirisena, Prof. G. L. Peiris, Mahinda Amaraweera, Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena, Ambassador of Korea Jongmoon Choi, President of the Korean Foundation for International Healthcare Dr. Lee Soo-ku and the Korean delegation were present at the occasion.
