President Mahinda Rajapaksa's outstanding contribution towards international cooperation and unity amongst nations is commendable, said Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.
His commitment and interest in diplomacy and governance of the country are exemplary to all of Asia, the Bangladesh Prime Minister further said.
She made these observations at a function held at her official residence to handover robes and “Ata Pirikara” collected by various temples in Sri Lanka to be distributed to Buddhist monks in temples in the Chittagong Ramu area that faced an extremist attack.
The Presidential Coordinating Secretary on Religious Affairs Ven. Watinapaha Somananda Thero handed over the robes and Ata Pirikara to Prime Minister Hasina. Prime Minister Hasina recalled that the President Rajapaksa expressed concern on behalf of the people and the Government of Sri Lanka as soon as the incident occurred in Ramu. The Prime Minister said that the Sri Lankan President extended his fullest cooperation for the wellbeing of the Buddhist monks who faced the unfortunate incident and to rebuild the destroyed temples.
