The government is planning to develop the coastline from the Galle Face Hotel complex to the Mount Lavinia Hotel limits. A meeting to discuss the development of the coastal belt was held at Temple Trees on Tuesday evening under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
During the discussion, plans have been made to beautify the stretch of beach and to prevent coastal erosion.
The Project is due to be completed within three years at an estimated cost of US$ 25 million.
The President has discussed the practical implementation of the project and the steps that need to be taken in the future.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and Finance Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera participated in the discussion.
