President Mahinda Rajapaksa today sent a congratulatory message to the new President-elect of the Republic of Korea , Park Guen-hye, on her historic win as the first female leader of the country.

"Your emphatic victory is a reflection of the trust in your vision and politics placed on you by the people of your country," President Rajapaksa said.

It is with great pleasure that I convey my warm congratulations and best wishes to Your Excellency, on your historic win as the first female President-elect of the Republic of Korea following the resounding success of your party at the recently concluded Presidential election. Your emphatic victory is a reflection of the trust in your vision and politics placed on you by the people of your country.

I am certain that under your able leadership, the Republic of Korea will reach new heights and I wish you success in your endeavours.

It is also my fervent hope that relations between Sri Lanka and Korea will continue to develop and strengthen in the years ahead and I look forward to working closely with your Excellency on matters of mutual interest.
