Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has called for the expansion of relations between Iran and Sri Lanka.
The Speaker made the remarks during a meeting with Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem in Tehran on Monday.
During the meeting, Larijani stated that Iran’s great potential in various areas can help the progress and development of Sri Lanka and the Parliament supports efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation.
He also expressed hope that the obstacles in the way of cooperation between the two countries would be removed through bilateral parliamentary relationship.
The Speaker also said that the Islamic Republic supports efforts to enhance peace and stability in regional countries, including Sri Lanka.
Minister Hakeem said that the Sri Lankan government attaches great importance to ties with Iran, reported Tehran Times.
