The newly appointed Chief Justice, Mohan Peiris assumed duties yesterday.

Sri Lanka's 44th Chief Justice, former Attorney General and a legal adviser to the Cabinet, Mohan Peiris was sworn in before President Mahinda Rajapaksa earlier in the day.

President Rajapaksa appointed Peiris after the Parliamentary Council which met last morning endorsed his name to the top judge post.
