President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday met the students who received the top marks at the last year's GCE (Advance Level) Examination at the Temple Trees. President Rajapaksa congratulated the first, second and third place students of each Science, Math, Commerce, Arts and Information Technology streams.
The Rajapaksa Central College of Weeraketiya has reached the top place in the Biology and Mathematics streams while the Devi Balika Vidyalaya has reached the top position in the Arts, Commerce and Information Technology streams.
Rusiru Gambiraarachchi from Weeraketiya Rajapaksa Central College topped the math stream while his schoolmate Kasun Lakmal Rajapaksa earned the top position in the Biology stream.
Upeksha Sevvandi of Devi Balika Vidyalaya secured the top results in Arts stream and her schoolmates Sheshani Gunatilake and Samali Liyanage scored the highest in Commerce and Information Technology streams respectively.
The National Savings Bank has offered all 15 students four-year scholarships for further studies and the President awarded those scholarships today at the function. Each student also received a laptop computer.
