Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf has sent a felicitation message to Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne on the 65th Independence Day.

In his message, the Pakistan Prime Minister expressed the confidence that the close ties of friendship and cooperation which characterize the relations between the two countries would continue to be strengthened in the time to come.

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said too has sent a cable of congratulations to President Mahinda Rajapaksa of on Independence Day anniversary.

In his cable, His Majesty the Sultan expressed his sincere congratulations along with his best wishes of good health and happiness to President Rajapaksa and the people of Sri Lanka progress and prosperity.
