Sri Lanka qualified for the Super Six stage of the 2013 Women's World Cup after beating India by 138 runs in the final Group game played in Mumbai yesterday, eliminating the hosts from the competition in the process.
Batting first Sri Lanka made a challenging 282 for the loss of five, with Deepika Rasangika top scoring with 84, supported by half-centuries from Yasoda Mendis, Shashikala Siriwardene and Eshani Kaushalaya.
India required 251 to qualify for the next round, at the expense of the West Indies even if they were defeated, but they failed to impose themselves in the early overs, and lost wickets in regular intervals, before being bolwed out for 144.
