Under the government's new program to provide vocational training at schools to students the first school vocational training center will be opened today morning at Ananda College, in Colombo. The Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena and the Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma will participate in the opening as chief guests.
The Education Ministry in collaboration with the Youth Affairs and Skills Development Ministry will implement the project from this year with the aim to provide skills development for the students who complete the GCE O/L and A/L but fail to gain university admissions.
This program and the project come under the supervision of the Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development has provided the school with technical equipment worth of Rs. three million.
