A taste of Sri Lanka in Bangalore

Sri Lanka Tourism will host a number of events and activities in Bangalore on February 21 to attract trade and investment opportunities. Sri Lanka has chosen Bangalore as the first city in India to showcase itself as a tourist and trade destination.

The campaign kicks off with a Sri Lankan night on February 21, where many Lankan cricketers will be present. A fashion show and traditional cultural treat will be the highlights of the event. A business meeting for the travel industry is on February 22, where over 130 Indian travel agents will meet Sri Lankan tourism officials and understand the requirements of the neighbouring country.

For food lovers, a mouth-watering Sri Lanka festival will be up for grabs at Taj Vivanta, MG Road, from February 23 to 28. Another interesting event may be the mall-activation programme scheduled at Garuda Mall on February 22-24. Sri Lanka experiences such as Tea, crafts, ceramics, gem, jewellery, ayurveda and other Lankan attractions will be showcased. The prize for winning games organized there will be free trips to the island nation.

"The upcoming city-based campaign series will help our country to capture a slice out of India's increasing outbound travellers," said Bashwara Gunarathna, chairman, Sri Lanka Tourism. He spoke about how the government and private institutions are coming together for this event to promote Lanka as a tourist destination, reported the Times of India.
