We are making progress in engagement with Sri Lanka Indian President

 

President of India, Pranab Mukherjee said Thursday that India is making progress in its engagement with Sri Lanka to ensure a life of peace, dignity and equality for the Tamils in the island nation.

Addressing the Indian Parliament during the budget sessions yesterday President Mukherjee said India is also making progress to resettle and rehabilitate the nearly 300,000 people displaced at the end of the three decades long conflict in May 2009.

"We are making progress in our engagement with Sri Lanka, including in our efforts to resettle and rehabilitate the internally displaced persons there and to ensure a life of peace, dignity and equality for the Tamil people," the Indian President said in parliament.
