Sri Lanka's two legendary cricketers Sanath Jayasuriya and Arjuna Ranatunga on Friday participated in 'Get Sri Lankaned' campaign launched by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) at Bangalore's high-end Garuda Mall.
At the Garuda Mall, there were stalls offering Sri Lankan cuisine, arts and crafts, and information on Sri Lanka's scenic and cultural attractions, temples and beaches.
The dual-purpose event, which aims to showcase Sri Lanka as a tourist and trade destination, features nearly 70 Sri Lankan public and private sector institutions, representing tourism, trade and investment.
The campaign, which will also be held in other cities like Mumbai and Ahmedabad, features an array of activities including media briefings, 'Sri Lankan Evenings' with fashion shows, Sri Lankan food festivals, B2B (business-to-business) meetings between the travel traders of Sri Lanka and India and business seminars.
The largest number of tourists to Sri Lanka last year arrived from India. Out of over one million tourists arrived last year, 176,340 visited from India.
