No one can take the law into their hand - Chief government whip

 
The law of the country had to prevail, no organization could take the law into their hands under the pretext of protecting a religion, said Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunawardena at a press conference held in government information department this morning.

A crucial meeting regarding this would be held this afternoon, the minister further said.

When asked about the government’s passivity in the entire issue, he said the government was committed to uphold communal harmony.

“We won’t let any sort of communal conflict occur in this country and we are doing everything possible to prevent such a thing. There are many working tirelessly behind the scenes regarding this matter,” he added. P
