President Mahinda Rajapaksa has sent a message of congratulations to Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta on his election as President of the Republic of Kenya.

Mr. Kenyatta's election to the Presidency is a testimony to the confidence that the people of Kenya have placed in him to usher in a brighter future for his country, the President said in his message.

"The relationship between our two countries is warm and cordial. I am confident that these links of friendship between our two countries will be further consolidated during your tenure of office," President Rajapaksa further said.
