Sri Lankan President not a war criminal – BJP |
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said it does not endorse the DMK's demand that President of Sri Lanka should be declared a war criminal.
"No, we do not share that perception," said BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad. The party also refrained from categorically supporting Tamil parties' demand that India should take a stringent stand against Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva, Indian media reported.
"The BJP has always maintained that Sri Lankan Tamils must be given safety and security, and their human rights must be protected," the spokesman said.
