The traditional rice festival is held annually to invoke blessings for the success of the harvests in both Yala and Maha seasons.

The farmers from different areas will offer the first portion of their harvest to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi at the ceremony. The ceremony will commence with a procession in the morning.
