The External Affairs Ministry said that the Sri Lankan Embassy in Seoul is in constant touch with the Sri Lankans employed in South Korea.
External Affairs Ministry Secretary Karunathilaka Amunugama said that the Sri Lankan mission in Seoul held frequent discussions with the Sri Lankans employed in South Korea on the developing situation in the country.
He has observed that the Sri Lankan employees have also been informed of the measures to be taken in the event a war breaks out in the country.
It has been estimated that around 25,000 Sri Lankans are currently employed in South Korea.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLFEB) has said that over 90 percent job visas for South Korea have been put on hold due to the current situation.
