The Secretariat through the move aims to empower the state sector institutions and to enhance efficiency in state institutions.

The Ministry of Finance says the Commonwealth Secretariat will also help to establish a special unit to prepare international level policies for the well-being of the state sector.

Accordingly, service of an international advisor will be provided to the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration.

In addition, technical support will also be obtained to enhance the competitiveness of leather and shoe production industry in Sri Lanka. The Commonwealth Secretariat has approved a proposal submitted by the Industrial Development Board in this connection.
