Thai Prime Minister and Princess Sirindhorn to visit Sri Lanka

Thailand Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will make an official visit to Sri Lanka on the 31st of this month, External Affairs Minister Professor G.L. Peiris said.

Prime Minister's visit will be followed by the visit of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in August to participate in the culmination of Siam Upasampada celebrations.

Minister Peiris made these remarks at a joint press conference held with Thailand's Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul, after successfully concluding the 3rd Sri Lanka-Thailand Joint Commission Meeting on Thursday (02).

Thailand Deputy Prime Minister also briefed resident Mahinda Rajapaksa about the activities planned to mark the 260th anniversary of the establishment of the Siam Maha Nikaya in Sri Lanka when he met President at Temple Trees on Thursday.

During the conversation, Deputy Prime Minister said that President Rajapaksa's last visit to Thailand was a landmark visit that marked a new chapter in bilateral relations between the two countries.
