Permanent appointments to 15,000 graduate trainees in public service


15,000 graduates who were recruited the public service recently have been made permanent in their positions.

Additional secretary to the Ministry of Public AdministrationJagathChandrasiri emphasized that all the recruits will be made permanent in their service. Around 50,000 graduates have been recruited as trainees.

In addition, the Minister of Health MaithreepalaSirisena has handed over 380 appointments to newly recruited midwives who completed their two year training. The Ministry says the recruitment of midwives will help to enhance rural health service.

Meanwhile, Minister Basil Rajapaksa pointed out the need of awarding a degree for the nursing sector. The nursing service of the country has set high standards which can be compared with rest of the world. The minister made these remarks at a ceremony held at the Temple Trees today to mark the International Nurses Day.
