The number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka went up 14.7 % to 79,829 in the month of April 2013, compared to April 2012 which was only 69,591, according to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
368,627 tourists arrived in first 4 months of 2013.
Figures showed an increase in the number of arrivals from Western Europe, East Asia, Australasia, South Asia, and North America.
The number of visitors from Western Europe rose by 10.0 percent (27,531) with tourists from France up 6.8 percent (4,842), Belgium up 2.7 percent (1,022), the number of visitors from Denmark is 498 and Germany up 8.3 percent (5,030), according to the SLTDA.
Arrivals from East Asia increased 34.2 percent (12,012), with Malaysian arrivals to 1,499, and those from Korea (South) up to 672.
Arrivals from Australasia went up by 11.8 percent to 4,605 within the month of April 2013. The number of visitors from South Africa went up by 44.3 percent to 254.
