The number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka went up 21.8% to 70,026 in the month of May 2013, compared to May 2012 which was only 57,506, according to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
438,653 tourists arrived up to May in 2013.
Figures showed an increase in the number of arrivals from Western Europe, East Asia, Australasia, South Asia, and North America.
The number of visitors from Western Europe rose by 28.0 percent (19,966) with tourists from France up 8.2 percent (3,490), Belgium up 47.8 percent (343), the number of visitors from the UK is 6,299 and Germany up 45.5 percent (4,263), according to the SLTDA.
Arrivals from East Asia increased 28.7 percent (11,983), with Malaysian arrivals to 2,192, and those from Korea (South) up to 509.
Arrivals from Australasia went up by 21.7 percent to 3,314 within the month of May 2013. The number of visitors from South Africa went up by 26.7 percent to 204.
