Sri Lankan and Maldivian Presidents consider necessity for common stand on regional issues


President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Wahid exchanged views on further strengthening the present relations between the two States and the necessity for a common position on regional issues.

This exchange of views took place when the Maldivian President Wahid who is on a two day visit to Sri Lanka met with President Rajapaksa at the Janadhipathi Mandiraya yesterday (6).

President Rajapaksa hosted the Maldivian President Wahid, First Lady Madam Ilham Hussein, and other members of the Maldivian delegation to breakfast at the Janadhipathi Mandiraya.

During this visit to Sri Lanka the Maldivian President will meet with the Sri Lankan business community and members of the Maldivian community in Sri Lanka.

The Senior Minister for Urban Affairs A. H. M. Fowzie, Minister for Environment& Renewable Energy Susil Premajayantha, Deputy Minister for Investment Promotion Faizer Mustapha, Monitoring MP of the Ministry of External Affairs Sajin Vas Gunawardena and Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga participated at the breakfast meeting.
