Security tightened at Sri Lanka mission in Chennai


Security has been tightened at the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai after the officials there complained of receiving a threatening letter recently.

Sri Lankan officials yesterday submitted to the Chennai police commissioner S. George a post card that contained a warning of a bomb threat.

A wing called Security Chennai Police provides security to the Sri Lankan mission and the authority has assigned at least 35 personnel, including eight armed reserve personnel, have been assigned to bolster the existing force and maintain constant surveillance around the area, according to a Times of India report.

The threatening letter has been forwarded to the cybercrime wing and police are continuing further investigations.
