Govt inviting all parties to CHOGM to witness progress

External Affairs Minister of Sri Lanka Prof. G.L. Peiris says the government extended an invitation to all parties and communities to witness the situation in the country during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo this November.

Minister Peiris told a news conference that the CHOGM would provide an excellent opportunity for the country to boost its economy and the summit would also draw foreign investments to the country.

According to the Minister, no country has said that it would not participate in the summit.

"President Mahinda Rajapaksa emphatically instructed us to ensure that there is full participation and involvement in the process and it shall integrate the participation of all Provincial Councils," Prof. Peiris said.

Meticulous preparations are underway by the government to host the Summit in November. "Leaders of all 53 Commonwealth countries will participate at this principal policy and decision-making forum," he added.
