Secretary to the President, Mr. Lalith Weeratunga chaired a meeting to discuss ways and means to expedite work of the National Plan of Action set up to implement recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) at the Mahaweli Auditorium on July 15.

Representatives of the 22 government agencies responsible for the implementation of recommendations apprised the Secretary of the current progress of their respective ministries.

Enlightening the stakeholders about the dedicated website for the National Plan of Action, www.llrcaction.gov.lk, the Secretary emphasized the importance of updating the site regularly.

The Cabinet recently approved the incorporation of an additional 53 recommendations of LLRC report in the National Plan of Action. The Secretary instructed the relevant Ministry officials to take steps to implement them accordingly.

He also instructed the officials to take immediate measures to resolve issues arising at the Ministry level while implementing the Action Plan while giving priority to the programmes carried out by the government for reconciliation among communities which are not included in the Plan.

The National Plan of Action was drafted by a committee headed by the Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga who was appointed by the Cabinet to oversee the implementation of LLRC recommendations.
