SLPA opens Colombo Port Expansion Project to public for five days


Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has extended an opportunity to the public to visit the newly opened Colombo Port Expansion Project (CPEP).

Following instructions by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the Minister of Port and Highways (Projects) Rohitha Abeygunawardena, SLPA Chairman Dr. Priyath Bandu Wickrama has acted according to the necessary instructions, to facilitate this opportunity to the public.

Accordingly, the public will be able to visit CPEP from 8 to 13 August during 8. am to 5 pm. The Public can use their own mode of transport or the shuttle service provided free of charge by SLPA. The public is requested to enter the site from Gate 1A, from the Chaithya Roads entrance.

The security division of SLPA has deployed its security personnel to strengthen the safety and security of the public.
The Colombo Port Expansion Project with its new breakwater, control tower and the Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT) was opened on August 5th by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
