Two more days for public to view new Colombo South harbor

The government had decided to keep the newly built Colombo South harbor open for two more days for public view, Project Minister of Ports and Highway Rohitha Abeygunawardena said.

According to the Minister, this is the largest gathering of people in Sri Lanka's history that visited one place in such a brief period.

Long queues of people of all walks of life were seen visiting the new port happily, the Chairman of the Ports Authority said. The crowd appeared to be increasing due to ongoing the school vacations.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared open the Chinese-built Colombo-South Harbor on August 05. The new harbor is the only port in South Asia with deep water terminal for mega container ships.
