Unilateral boycott of CHOGM will isolate Canadians, not Sri Lankans - Chapnick

Canada should attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo in November since a unilateral boycott of the summit will isolate Canadians and not Sri Lankans from the Commonwealth, Adam Chapnick wrote in Toronto Star.

"A boycott will also draw attention to Ottawa's diplomatic failure and not the Sri Lankan government's human rights records," Chapnick further said.

The writer further said Canada won't make any difference in Sri Lanka if it's not at the table.

A unilateral boycott of the Commonwealth heads of government meeting will do no one any good, the writer said.
