The programme for the second advance visit teams got underway in Colombo Friday,.
Nearly 80 representatives from approximately 14 Commonwealth countries are participating in the second advance visit ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2013.
The opening session was chaired by the Monitoring MP of the Ministry of External Affairs Sajin de Vass Gunawardena with the presence of the Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs Karunathilake Amunugama, Sri Lanka's High Commissioner in Britain Dr. Chris Nonis and several other officials of the CHOGM 2013 Taskforce Secretariat and the Ministry of External Affairs.
Similar to the first advance visit programme, the representatives on the second visit will also tour the main venues of the conference in Colombo, Hikkaduwa and Hambantota, and tour the two international airports to review the arrangements.
There are two advance visits that customarily take place before any CHOGM. Host countries are required to organize these sessions, according to the guidelines set out by the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. The first visit took place earlier this month.
