The number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka went up 9.5% to 98,944 in the month of July 2013, compared to July 2012 which was only 90,338, according to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
611,222 tourists arrived in first 7 months of 2013.
Figures showed an increase in the number of arrivals from Western Europe, East Asia and North America.
The number of visitors from Western Europe rose by 10.5 percent (45,930) with tourists from France up 5.7 percent (6,541), U.K. up 2.7 percent (14,005), the number of visitors from Switzerland is 3,194 and Germany up 40.2 percent (8,203), according to the SLTDA.
Arrivals from East Asia increased 17.6 percent (12,507), with Japan arrivals to 2,402, and those from Korea (South) up to 933.
Arrivals from Australasia went up by 5.8 percent to 5,356 within the month of July 2013. The number of visitors from South Africa went up by 32.7 percent to 272.
Tourist arrivals in the country increased sharply from May 2009 after defeating 30 years of terrorism.
