UK based oil and gas company to set up its regional headquarters in Sri Lanka


The Board of Investment (BOI) announced that a UK based petroleum consultancy firm had forwarded an application seeking permission to set up its regional headquarters in Sri Lanka.

The online application reached the BOI yesterday is the first application of the new investment application system.

Minister of Investment Promotion Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena formally introduced and launched the new online application system Tuesday and the BOI received its first application barely 24 hours later, yesterday with a comment that the platform is "very impressive and certainly very user friendly".

Minister Abeywardena said the online application system would contribute to Sri Lanka's emergence as a more investment friendly country.

"Thanks to the introduction of this online system, Sri Lanka now has a global reach. There is a potential for investors from all over the world to initiate investment projects in the country, " the Minister said launching the new system yesterday.
