A regular and efficient public service is ensured to civilians in the Northern Province, Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne said.
Opening the newly established Divisional Secretariat Office in Karainagar, Minister Seneviratne said the government under President Mahinda Rajapaksa has taken immediate measures to provide all facilities to the Northern and Eastern Provinces. Reestablishing civil administration to provide services to those in the North, a war affected area within four, years is a major achievement, he said.
Minister Seneviratne said the government has spent around Rs. 60 million for the new divisional secretariat office. "This office would facilitate civil administration in the nine Grama Niladhari Divisions in Karainagar and over 11,000 civilians will benefit by this," he said.
The minister requested government officers attached to the North Province to be ready to work in other provinces with the aim of creating a bond between all races in the country.
