Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth nations met yesterday to discuss among other things the preparations for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) to be held in Colombo this November.
The twelfth meeting of Commonwealth foreign affairs ministers took take place in New York yesterday alongside the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting was chaired by Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma.
The Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting was also brought up to date on preparations CHOGM. Both the Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka will provide briefings on these preparations.
Commonwealth Secretary-General and External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris briefed the foreign ministers at the foreign ministers' meeting about the preparations being made for CHOGM.
Following the foreign ministers' meeting, members of the nine-member Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) will also meet in New York on Friday.
