SLN assists repatriation of 20 released Indian fishermen

Sri Lanka Navy escorted 20 Tamil Nadu fishermen, who were released by the court last month, and handed them over to the Indian Coast Guard Tuesday.

A Sri Lanka Navy Vessel had escorted the fishermen along with their four fishing boats and handed over to the Indian Coast Guard Ship "Rani Awanthi Bai" at the International Maritime Boundary Line off Thalaimannar yesterday.

The Navy arrested the 20 Indian fishermen on September 22 and seized their four boats when they were illegally poaching in the Sri Lankan waters in Palk Straits.
