Pessimists who try to look at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting (CHOGM) in a negative manner and assess its success or failure by counting the number of heads of state attending it will soon be surprised to see its victorious march towards a colossal success, External Affairs Prof. G.L.Peiris said.
Prof. Peiris who noted that certain individuals were trying to devote more attention towards heads of state trying to give the CHOGM a miss, said such persons will be given the proper answer on the day of the CHOGM Summit.
He was addressing a meeting after opening the new head office building of Indra Finance Ltd in Kandy on Monday.
The minister said a large scale Business Forum too would be held concurrent to the CHOGM and it would be attended by investors from a large number of non-Commonwealth countries too in addition to those from the Common Wealth nations.
Prof. Peiris said businessmen and investors from 68 countries have already confirmed participation in the Business Forum.
The minister who described the holding of CHOGM as a historic moment for the people of Sri Lanka, predicted that it would be an unprecedented success this time.
