Presidents of Sri Lanka & Nauru meet on the sidelines of CHOGM


President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Nauru President Baron Waqa met yesterday to discuss bilateral issues between the two countries, on the sidelines of Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2013 taking place in Colombo, today (15).

Speaking at the meeting, President Waqa said, "We look forward to it [CHOGM] and nothing is going to stop us from coming here."

President Waqa also added that it was his first time in Sri Lanka and he feels very much at home. President Rajapaksa said that Sri Lanka is a nation that has suffered from a war, which lasted for 30 years, but since 9002, there has been no bombing or killings.

"The right to live has been given back to the people, President Rajapaksa said.

On concluding the meeting, President Waqas invited President Rajapaksa to visit the Republic of Nauru.
