President Mahinda Rajapaksa celebrates his 68th birth anniversary today having assumed the position of Chairman of the Commonwealth of Nations.
This birthday marks the continued commitment of the President to the tasks of nation building, with emphasis on post-conflict reconciliation and development. This is combined with his new leadership in guiding the Commonwealth towards Sustainable, Inclusive and Equitable Development.
This anniversary comes at an auspicious period when the President is honoured by foreign nations, in addition to the high esteemed he is held by the people of Sri Lanka for his leadership in defeating terrorism and taking the country to social and economic progress amidst peace and reconciliation.
President Rajapaksa today receives the blessings and good wishes of the people of Sri Lanka for success in his mission to serve the country, good health and long life.
