First Lady distributes medical equipment to Cancer Hospital


First Lady Shiranthi Wickremasinghe Rajapaksa yesterday visited the Cancer Hospital in Maharagama and distributed medical equipment and toys to pediatric patients to mark the President Mahinda Rajapaksa's birthday that fell on November 18.

The First Lady distributed educational toys and games to over 200 resident pediatric patients in the Hospital and inquired about their well-being.

She also handed over a stock of equipment to detect cancers, essential medicines and dry food items to the Hospital.

With the First Lady's involvement the Cancer Hospital recently laid foundation for a new building complex to be built at a cost of Rs. 1.5 billion.

Director of the Cancer Hospital, specialist Dr. Kanishka Gunwardena, Secretary to the Highways, Port and Aviation Ministry Ranjith Premasiri, and Chairman of Maga Neguma Development Program Kingsley Ranawaka also accompanied the First Lady.
