The Government declared December 10 and 11 as national mourning days for former South African President Nelson Mandela and announced that the flags at all Ministries, Departments, Agencies and private institutions should fly at half-mast during the two day mourning period.

Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapaksa will leave for South Africa to pay his last respects to late Nelson Mandela, an anti-apartheid icon and the country’s first black president, the Presidential Spokesman Mohan Samaranayake said.
