UAE discusses cooperation with Sri Lanka


The UAE and Sri Lanka discussed ways to boost relations between the two countries in the fields of agriculture and livestock, especially regarding the lifting of the ban on poultry and associated products from Sri Lanka.

Assistant Under-Secretary for Agricultural and Livestock Affairs of the UAE, Saif Mohammed Al Shara on Thursday received M M Abdul Raheem, Consul-General of Sri Lanka and his accompanying delegation.

Al Shara stressed that the UAE is an important commercial hub linking the West and the East as well as an ideal place for business growth, especially in the field of food products and livestock.

The Consul-General of Sri Lanka said that his country is witnessing remarkable development in the production of poultry and eggs, stressing its interest in opening new markets, especially in the UAE.

The meeting comes within the framework of the keenness of the Ministry of Environment and Water to achieve its strategic objective in promoting food security, reported The Gulf Today.
