2014 budget passed with a majority of 95 votes


Parliament yesterday passed the government's 2014 Appropriation Bill with a majority of 95 votes.

155 votes were cast in favor of the Bill while 60 votes were cast against it.

The main opposition United National Party (UNP) and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) voted against the budget.

The proceedings of the Budget 2014, which started on November 21st 2013 when President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Finance presented the budget in parliament, ended yesterday.
