Over 100 Scholarships awarded for Jaffna students


Over 100 schoolchildren residing at Konapulam open welfare centre (muham) had the opportunity to receive an allowance worth of Rs. 500/= for a period of one year as an encouragement to continue with their education under the patronage of the Commander security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Udaya Perera, at a function held at the Mallakam, Jaffna on 10th January.

During the event SF-J Commander handed over the relevant bank passbooks to the beneficiaries selected from low income families of the village. Meanwhile, addressing the students and their parents Maj. Gen. Perera advised them to pay more attention in their education which gives an extra value to their future.

Rev. Fr. Wasanthan of Inuvil Church of South India, Divisional Secretary Thelippalai Mr. Sri Mohanan, Ms Mathista of Mavadipuram Nadeswara Vidyalaya and a beneficiary, addressed the gathering and praised the chain of efforts taken by the security forces to uplift the standard of the Northern education.

During the session Maj. Gen. Perera also exchanged his views with the gathering
