2014 Chinese New Year celebrations held at BMICH


An event to mark the Chinese New Year was held at the BMICH in Colombo on January 17 under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Chinese Lunar New Year falls on the 31st of January of this year. It is the most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. 

The event was organized strengthening the historical links between Sri Lanka and China. At this event the President wished progressive and prosperous 2014 to everyone.

The ceremony was held at the BMICH which is a symbol of friendship between the two countries. Chinese Ambassador Wu  Jianghao warmly welcomed President Rajapaksa and other guests at the venue.

President Rajapaksa’s Lunar New Year message read on the President's behalf by Lalith Weeratunga, Secretary to the President.

Chinese Ambassador Mr.Wu Jianghao conveyed the greetings of Chinese people to the 66th Anniversary of the Independence of Sri Lanka.

At this event awards were presented to Chinese companies and China- Sri Lanka development project partners who were engaged in development projects in Sri Lanka. President Rajapaksa congratulated to the all award recipients.
