IFAC Chief meets President


Mr. Warren Allen, President of the International Federation of Accounting who arrived in Sri Lanka to attend a meeting of the South Asian Federation of Accountants paid a courtesy call on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday (22) evening.

IFAC is the world’s largest body of accountants with a membership of 130 countries and 179 affiliated institutes. Mr. Allen who recalled his last visit to Sri Lanka 10 years ago said that the country has achieved a remarkable transformation in recent years together with a vibrant professionalism in the field of accountancy. Co-operation with the South Asian Federation of Accountants would benefit Sri Lankan Accountants as they are keen to acquire modern knowledge in accountancy, President Rajapaksa said.

Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Mr. Arjuna Herath President, Mr. Lasantha Wickramasingha, Vice President and Mr. Aruna Alwis Secretary / CEO of Chartered Institute of Sri Lanka were also present on the occasion.
