Air services agreement between Lanka & South Africa

 

Relations between Sri Lanka and South Africa have been further strengthened with the signing of the Air Services Agreement between Sri Lanka and South Africa on 21 st February, 2014 at an official ceremony held in the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa in Pretoria.

The agreement enables designated airlines of both countries to establish and operate international air services on agreed routes between the South Africa and Sri Lanka.

The Agreement was signed by Minister of Transport of the Republic of South Africa Ms. Elizabeth Dipuo Peters, on behalf of South Africa and Minister of Irrigation & Water Resources Management Nimal Siripala de Silva, on behalf of Sri Lanka. The High Commissioner of South Africa in Sri Lanka Geoff Doidge and the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Pretoria Shehan Ratnavale were also present on this occasion.

At the signing ceremony, both Ministers expressed their satisfaction at the signing of the Agreement, which is expected to enhance overall cooperation between the South Africa and Sri Lanka.
